Do we have moral to support LTTE?
The move by Tamilnadu MPs to resign (http://www.hindu.com/2008/10/15/stories/2008101557920100.htm) if ceasefire is not ensured in Sri Lanka is really ridiculous. These are the people who spoke about the terrorism in India as the right of the terrorist. These are the people, who asked other counties not to interfere in our national security issues.
The way Sri Lanka is handling this issue may be rude and wrong. But, as a county, Sri Lanka has to see that it has to be united. It has the responsibility of keeping the nation integrated. Also, it has the responsibility of ensuring peaceful life for the its citizens.
Looking from the other angle, LTTE has never come down from the demand of a new TAMIL nation. We all know what it takes to divide a nation. Also we all know, what is the impact of it. When India got divided into India and Pakistan, we witnessed more than a million Murders (I do call it as murders). People had to move from their original places to unknown. They lost their parents, partners, children, relatives and friends. Though the division was unavoidable, as it could have consumed more lives than this, the loss of lives is not acceptable.
So, if LTTE goes on demanding for a separate Tamil nation, the violence is never going to get down. It has to learn from USA (only thing that can be learnt from USA), that instead of dividing a nation, one should try to obtain the rights of equality. This also puts International pressure on Sri Lanka to treat Tamilians as equal as Sri Lankans.
Just see the things in Kashmir. The Harriet is trying to make Kashmir an independent country. If Pakistan starts a pubic campaign for it, will any country support it? For sure not. The same case is there in Sril Lanka. So hope Indian politicians keep silence, and let the Sri Lanka take its own steps.
